Thank you… Berlin!

Many of the displayed timelapses could be created only with the help of people, which I would like to thank sincerely for their open-mindedness and kindness. Often I was ringing at foreign doors in the late evening and asked for permission to use people’s balconies or their private properties for my timelapse-photography. Also I would like to thank my friends and of course my family for showing me fantastic spots and giving me time:

Thank you:

to the Komische Oper (Berlin) for this visual delicacy. Especially I would like to thank Juliane for her help and know-how on the selection of spots.

to the Eisbären Berlin and the management of the o2-World Berlin for this fantastic opportunity.

to Mrs. Mercedes and the friendly staff of Hotel am Rosenthaler.

to Family Rother from Charlottenburg for making available their balcony at a later hour.

to Mrs. Schrodt of Roundhill Capital.

to Mrs. M. from Total for the late shift.

to the flat-sharing community at the Eberswalder Straße for inviting me on your balcony at a late hour.

to Mr. Stehen Nielsen and the captain for giving me opportunity to make photographies at see.

to János and Andreas for the accommodation and conversation in Northern Sweden.

to Ron for your support and help to create and launch this website.

to Dirk H. for your help with the photographies at Ku’damm.

to Andreas for your fantastic music.

to Ben and Kris from Syrp. Nice to meet you in Cph and big Thanks for borrowing the Genie for the new Timelapse-Project.

to Marie and Frida for giving me the opportunity to perform the photography after work.

Vielen Dank… Berlin!

Frau B. vom Frankfurter Tor.

about me! (english / german)

about me! (english)

Hello, my name is Denis. Born 1980 in Berlin I grew up in the district ‘Prenzlauer Berg’, which was part of the former DDR at that time. I am interested in photography from an early age. My first camera – a Beirette SL 100N – was a present for my seventh birthday. Since then I dedicated myself to the art of photography in different ways: videojocking in clubs, short- movies, documentation, musicclips, etc..

After completing my studies in economics and starting a serious job my productivity declined almost totally due to lack of time. However, in November 2012 I started over again and focused on timelapse photography this time. For that purpose I used a GoPro HD 2 at first, but soon found it insufficiently equipped. I switched to a digital reflex camera and produced almost 50 timelapses at night in my freetime and presented them on my website.

Until now I carried out three projects: Berlin at night, Northern light, Movement and stagnation:

The project Movement and stagnation is still running and I am open for hints regarding scenes which show the contrast between both conditions.

Northern light was a very challenging job. I tried to capture the northern light in eight days in the area around Arvidsjaur in Sweden. At the end I got it, even if it was a small and feeble light. But this journey wasn’t the last one.

In the end of August 2013 I moved with my family to Copenhagen. Here I continued the timelapse photography. The newest project of course is called Copenhagen at Night! and started in the end of October 2013. Herefore I now study Copenhagen to find out its characteristic faces and try to reflect them using time-lapse-photography.

I would be glad if you explored my website and watched my clips…

See you / Vi ses Denis

about me! (deutsch)
